Luke Sanders

Chief Operating Officer, Commercial & Asset Management

Luke joined Mainstay in 2014 as Group MD, leading the business transformation and expansion into asset and commercial FM, following previous leadership roles delivering property and facilities services to corporate and public sector occupiers and property investors. A member of RICS and IWFM, with an MBA from Aston Business School, Luke is also a big NFL fan and represented England at American Football when younger, an AFC Bournemouth supporter, and enjoys motorcycling and spending time doing what he is told by his young daughter Amelia.

Debbie Penn

Account Director, Direct Line Group

Debbie joined Mainstay in 2019, where she leads the IWFM award winning partnership with a clear focus on customer experience. With her 20 years’ experience in Facilities Management Account Management, she is passionate about the importance of people growth and development underpinning a successful FM delivery model. Debbie enjoys sport, with a particular love of open water swimming, and most mornings before work will swim in a local lake – all year round! She also enjoys time with her three boys.

Felix Keen

Director of Industry Engagement

Felix joined FirstPort in 2002, moving to across to Mainstay in 2021. During his 30 years’ experience in the property sector, he has held board level roles in HR, property management and Investor Services, and roles within the property divisions of the Metropolitan Police Services and Carillion, handling several large scale Public Sector transfers and mobilisations. As IRPM Chairman, he has worked with several industry groups helping government reform leasehold policy. Outside work, Felix enjoys both international and UK travel.

Mark Varley

Director of Health & Safety

Mark joined FirstPort in 2014, working across Mainstay projects since 2021. He is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Safety and Health, a Member of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management, and IRPM Member. He is a Board Director for IRPM. Previous roles include Head of Health and Safety for Metropolitan Housing and Care and Support, UK Health, Safety and Environment Manager for E.ON and Health and Safety Director for Associated Training and Consultancy. He enjoys walking, keeping fit, visiting nice places and watching sport.

Gary Fozzard

Head of Marketing

Gary joined FirstPort in April 2021, moving to Mainstay in November 2021. Specialising in Marketing, content, and communications, he previously worked in the aviation and travel sector, where he worked for eight years at British Airways, managing brand campaigns. In his spare time, Gary enjoys playing football, is a fan of Bradford City FC, swimming, and travel. Fun fact – Gary once wrote a brief for an episode of BBC programme, The Apprentice.

Abby Ong

Director of Finance, Commercial and Asset Management

Abby joined FirstPort in 2018 as Head of Group Reporting, moving across to Mainstay in 2021, where she and her team specialise in providing financial support to drive strategic direction, long term planning and near-term operational efficiencies within this division. Abby’s extensive industry experience includes property, insurance, and professional accounting practice. Outside of work, she is a ‘devoted dog mum’ and enjoys discovering new destinations.

Steve Perrett

Director of Estates Finance

Steve joined FirstPort in 2013, working across Mainstay projects since 2021. A qualified accountant (ACMA, CGMA) and an Associate Member of the Institute of Residential Property Management (AIRPM), he has in depth knowledge of business acquisitions and finance systems integration. With over 20 years’ experience in the Property Services sector, he is expert in the re-organisation and centralisation of finance teams and the development and implementation of a shared service centre environment. Steve enjoys scuba diving, travelling, golf and keeping fit.

Malcolm Rogers

Director of Surveying & Technical Services

Malcolm joined FirstPort in 2018, moving across to Mainstay in 2021. He is a Chartered Engineer, developing his career in engineering management and project delivery, and now focussing on building asset management. Malcolm previously worked in the automotive industry, fast moving consumer goods sector, looking after the UK’s Nuclear deterrent, and at Carillion as technical support to the Corporate Facility Management contracts. In his spare time, he enjoys car and bike maintenance, home improvement, and woodcraft and cabinet making.

Lucie-Anne Rhodes

Head of Legal – Operations

Lucie-Anne joined FirstPort in January 2021, where she now also works across Mainstay projects. She specialises in property related matters. Her extensive background includes working at Eversheds LLP, Hamlins LLP and, subsequently, Fieldfisher LLP. Lucie-Anne has a young daughter, who keeps her busy outside of work, but she tries to make time to enjoy playing the guitar, carpentry, writing children’s books and going to the theatre.

Scott Wescott

Property Lettings Director

Scott joined Mainstay in 2022, overseeing the Lettings operations in South West England. He brings a wealth of sales, lettings, investment management and acquisition expertise from his 20 years in the industry, with senior roles at Countrywide Residential Lettings, Alder King Estate Agents, opening a new agency in Bristol, and as Lettings Director at Campions. Outside work, Scott enjoys golf, the gym, taking and watching his son play Sunday league football, and spending quality time with his family.

Mark Monkhouse

Associate Director, Aviva

Mark joined Pemberstone in 1998, moving across to Mainstay in 2000. MIRPM, AssocRICS, and MAAT certified, he specialises in residential asset and property management. Mark also previously worked in local authority finance. During lockdown, he took up paddle boarding. He is also keen supporter of his local cricket team, and a member of the management committee for a number of years, adding that he will even ‘don some whites’ if the 3rd team are short of a player!

Joanne Belcher

Regional Operations Manager, Direct Line Group

Joining Mainstay in 2018, Jo specialises in Corporate FM with a personal emphasis on developing people, H&S and process, bringing with her extensive experience from her 25 years’ working in facilities management for several blue-chip companies. Jo enjoys travelling, scuba diving, trekking, backpacking, kayaking, gardening, voluntary work and has been a Special Constable with Avon and Somerset Police for 29 years.

Stephen Richards

Director, Executive Committee

Stephen joined Mainstay in 2013. A long standing qualified Chartered Surveyor and Chartered Institute of Housing member, he has a wealth of experience of portfolio and asset management, previously working for Birmingham City Council, Grimley JR Eve (now Avison Young), DTZ Debenham Thorpe (now Cushman and Wakefield), Hillier Parker (now CBRE), and Lambert Smith Hampton. Stephen enjoys football, cricket, rugby, music, keeping up to date with current affairs, walking, going to the gym and spending time with his grandchildren.

Martin Nicoll

Associate Director, Asset Management, Aviva

Martin joined Mainstay in 2014. Specialising in residential leasehold and asset management, he has worked in residential leasehold management since 2001. Outside of work, Martin enjoys spending time with is family, walking, watching (and occasionally playing), football.

Adil Aziz

Marketing Executive

Adil joined FirstPort in 2020 as a graduate, moving to Mainstay in 2021. He has experience in B2B and B2C, digital and media marketing, delivering, and monitoring campaigns and initiatives to increase industry awareness. Since leaving university, he has also worked within the hospitality industry along with internships in marketing and finance. Adil is big football supporter, (Man United fan), is an avid cyclist and runner, and loves culture, especially when it comes to food and travel.

Lois Connellan

Asset Manager

Lois has been at Mainstay for over 3.5 years and during that time she has progressed from Senior Property Services Advisor to Property Manager, and now an Asset Manager. As MIRPM qualified Lois is always looking to develop herself further. In Lois’ spare time she enjoys walking her dog, retail therapy and travel (when restrictions allow!).

Kay Tombs

Finance and Commercial Manager, Direct Line Group

Kay joined Mainstay in 2018, having previously worked on a variety of facilities management contracts, the largest of which were British Telecom, Direct Line Group and Mapeley Steps. When not working, she loves spending time outdoors, walking in the countryside and visiting and seeing new places – especially on cruises. Kay is also interested in mental health and is now a Mental Health First Aider.

Beverley Kloos

Communications Specialist

Bev joined Mainstay in 2020. Specialising in Public Relations, Marketing, Internal Communications, and crisis and issues management, she has extensive experience through her over 20 years working in her previous roles at Midlands Electricity Board, npower, E.ON, and the NHS. Outside of work, Bev loves music, and travelling to explore new cultures.

Steve Warren

Client Asset Manager

Steve joined FirstPort in 2010, moving to Mainstay in 2021. He specialises in finance, in particular, Ground Rent and Finance Systems. When he isn’t working, Steve enjoys keeping fit, paddleboarding, and restoring vintage bicycles.

Louise Sayers

Head of Lettings Services

Louise joined Mainstay in 2004, where she specialises in the management of residential tenanted portfolios for corporate clients, and block and asset management for existing portfolio clients. Before joining Mainstay, she previously worked in administration management outside of the property sector. In her spare time, Louise enjoys music, socialising with friends and family and is an animal lover.

Matthew Brace

Head of Asset Management, Aviva

Matt joined Mainstay in 2012. MIRPM & AssocRICs qualified, he has extensive knowledge from his nine years in the industry. Passionate about providing excellent customer and client service, Matt previously ran the Mainstay customer service teams in his role as Associate Director of Property Services. In his spare time, he enjoys family time, all sport (especially Liverpool FC) and plays hockey, cricket, and golf.

Darren Mottram

National Security Manager, Direct Line Group

Darren joined Mainstay in 2018, specialising in physical security systems, including access control, intruder detection, and CCTV. A member of the International Security Management Institute, with a Level 6 Diploma in Security Management, his previous roles included being a global military and overseas security specialist, working in many high-risk theatres. In his spare time, Darren is a motorsport enthusiast, riding and maintaining his own vehicles and watching British Superbikes, MotoGP and F1.

Sherril Nicholson

Regional Operations Manager DLG

Sherril joined Mainstay in 2018 having gained almost 20 years of Facilities management within the corporate and logistics environment. Her focus is customer satisfaction and promoting Mental health and wellbeing in the work place. We are all about the people in our business and that starts by looking after ourselves and each other, to promote our end goal which is customer excellence in everything we do. We cannot do this without putting ourselves first “You cannot pour from an empty cup”. When she’s not working, she enjoys time outdoors and walking her Basset Hounds. For Sherril, the simplest of pleasures are the greatest of pleasures!

Robert Schwier

Building Surveying Manager

Robert joined FirstPort in 2016, moving to Mainstay in 2021. Specialising in design and rectification works, he has extensive previous experience both in consultancy and private practice. Robert says he is ‘obsessed with farming’ in his spare time.

Laura Fisher

Sales Manager, Retirement Homesearch

Laura joined FirstPort in 2003, then Mainstay in 2021, where she heads up the sales team for our specialist retirement estate agency, Retirement Homesearch. She has a wealth of background experience, starting as a secretary, then moving on to establish the Retirement Homesearch assured PX business. Outside of work, Laura enjoys singing, walking with her teenage daughters and basset hound, and is training to become a yoga teacher.

George Hawkins

Account Executive

George joined FirstPort as a Graduate in 2019, where he worked in Property Services and Building Safety – and also became a ‘Graduate Charity Champion’. He moved to Mainstay in 2021 as an Account Executive. Before joining the Grad Scheme, he studied History at the University of Birmingham, and worked for M&S and a clothing store. Outside work, George likes going to the gym and playing football. He also enjoys watching sport (especially football and boxing), cooking, and socialising with friends.

Denise Shaw

Lettings Manager

Denise joined FirstPort in 2008, moving to Mainstay in 2021, Specialising in residential property management and block management. Before she joined FirstPort, Denise worked in the Charity Sector. She loves to travel, going to the theatre, gardening, and carrying out voluntary work for charities.
